Siem Reap with kids

Thinking of bringing your kids to Siem Reap?

DO IT!

There is so much to do in Siem Reap for families!

Here are some of our personal favorites:

The Wake Park:  The only wake park in Cambodia, catering to riders of all levels. They offer thrilling wakeboarding, a family-friendly Aqualand, and a diverse dining experience. Enjoy local and Western cuisine, fresh juices, and a well-stocked bar. The beach area with a wooden playground makes it the perfect destination for adventure and relaxation. Minimum spend 5 usd from the restaurant to use the beach. Aqualand is 8 usd per person, and includes a life jacket.

Kameng Leng: A restaurant and playground perfect for kids aged 0 - 6 years. The playground is inspired by real life, with beautiful handmade bamboo structures and a carefully selected range of beautiful wooden toys and educational games. Their food and drinks are made with local fresh ingredients, non-processed and chemical-free, of course a huge kids menu with homemade healthy options!

Please check their Facebook page for up to date opening times, events and meet-ups. They also do childcare.

Angkor Botanical Gardens: On an area of more than 15 hectares this garden has more than 500 species of plants and flowers and tens of thousands of trees. This Park is divided into five large gardens with different features: - The Medicinal Garden, The Garden with seasonal flowers and grass, The Palm Garden, The Khmer Garden with fruit plants and the Angkor Forest and Wildlife Park. They also have a large fishpond where you can feed the koi fish - a highlight for the little ones! You can also see bunnies, ostriches, turtles and some other animals (usually rescued). A great place to explore and let the kids run around. There is also a little cafe in the middle of the garden. Free if you “check in” on Facebook. Open from 8 am to 6pm. Closed Mondays.

The Blue Monkey:

Located in Bamboo Street, a short tuktuk ride from Old market, this restaurant and bar offers a place to climb, play games, eat and chill. They have a climbing wall (bouldering) for adults and kids over 8 years, and a separate climbing wall for the little ones. Shoes available for hire. There is also Pétanque as well as a playstation and some board games. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm.

Lagoon Siem Reap : A beautiful local restaurant with lots of green space for the kids, beautiful wooden houses, bamboo huts with hammocks, a big lotus pond and a beautiful scenery. This is the perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon with family and friends. The food is fresh, presented well and service is great. One of our favorite sunset spots!

Also open for lunch. Mostly local food on their menu.

Khtom Lumhea Phnom Krom: Head south, towards the Tonle Sap lake, and stop at this local restaurant with a small playground, bamboo huts with hammocks, lots of flowers and a stunning view of the sunset over Phnom Krom mountain. This restaurant is a favorite with our families when we need to get out of town and enjoy the peaceful countryside. Grab a hut, order some food and spend the afternoon relaxing in hammocks. It takes around 20 minutes in a tuk tuk. There are many other very similar restaurants around this area - pick one and enjoy the sunset!

Angkor Wat Putt: A charming minigolf course surrounded by buffaloes and rice fields.

Owned and ran by Mr Tee, a local who has worked hard to build his miniature golf complex on his own land. His passion shows in the attention to detail and pristine condition of this amazing course. Located about 15 minutes out of Siem Reap town, Angkor Putt Putt is a beautiful green oasis. Misting water floats down from overhead to cool you as you play a round of 18 holes that take you through incredible miniatures of Cambodian Temples. They even have little kids size golf putters! Holes in-one are rewarded with a free beer/soft drink, and you can take snacks with you to enjoy at the undercover chairs and tables. Ice cream available!

Playground and electric cars:

Across the river, directly opposite Jaya House River Park Hotel, is a small park that gets very lively around 4-5pm every day. The newly installed small playground is an initiative by the local NGO Heartprint, and sponsored by Jaya House. This is the first, and only public playground in Siem Reap. There is also a lot of local street vendors selling everything from drinks and noodles to ice cream. The electric cars are popular with the locals, but please be careful if you join in, as there are no helmets or protection gear for rent, and it can get quite busy in the late afternoon.

Old MacDonald Farm:

Located near Wat Thmey, towards the temples. A family cafe with a petting zoo with farm animals like ducks, bunnies, goats and more. Weekend art activities. A huge trampoline and an outdoor play area as well. Carrots for sale to feed the animals. The small cafe has simple food, drinks and ice cream. Open from 8am - 8pm . Closed Mondays.

Boxville Playground:

Boxville is an outdoor, but covered playground on the premises of Angor Eye on road 6. The price is 1 usd to play, and its open from 8am to 8pm. There is also a small shop there that rents out segways.

60 Road Night Market & Funfair
This night market on Road 60 is very popular with local people. It has many street food stalls, fun games, and small rides. Head over after 5 pm when all the stalls are out and the sun is setting. The market is busy, colorful, and full of life, making it one of the most authentic local experiences in Siem Reap. Kun Khmer boxing matches are also held here, usually on Saturday nights from 7pm. Free of charge. To enjoy the market more, it is best to go with a local person. Ask one of our tuk-tuk drivers to take you there and experience one of Siem Reap’s best local attractions.

FCC: Grab a cocktail and a bite at this beautiful place located on the river, and let the kids play in the garden or in the AC playroom!

Foreign correspondents, archaeologists, royalty – they all gather at the FCC Angkor, a peaceful sanctuary shaded by banyan trees right in the center of the Old French Quarter of charming Siem Reap.

Ponleu Kids: Open daily from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Ponleu Kids is located inside of Angkor Grace Wellness resort, only a short tuktuk ride from both our hotels. They offer: Daycare (from 6 months old, drop off service)

Playground (up to 12 years old) Operating Hours:

Monday – Friday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Saturday & Sunday from 8:30am to 5:00pm

Psar Khmer Food Court: (previously Green Market)

A food hall with a variety of dishes from around the world. Perfect for families when everyone wants to eat something different! Inside this covered food hall that opens at 4pm daily, you'll find stalls selling everything from noodles to pizza, Korean bao, Mexican churros, smoothies and burgers. Pick your food and find a table. There is also a small playground there. Entertainment usually starts around 7pm. Located on the main road, Sivatha, right at the end of Pub Street.

Fern Cafe: A “farm cafe” ran by a local family. Buy a cup of carrots for 3000 riel and feed the friendly sheep and gees. It’s also a paradise for selfie pictures, with a beautiful countryside farm vibe.
