Babel Education Program: Investing in Our Team
At Babel Hotels, we believe that tourism should create opportunities for the local community. For over a decade, we have run the Babel Education Program, providing our staff and Tuk Tuk drivers with the resources to pursue education and professional development.
Our Growth & Impact
Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Babel Guesthouse remained resilient. When travellers finally started to return, we successfully expanded our operations to include the Babel Boutique Hotel.
Our team has grown to 26 staff members and 18 Tuk Tuk drivers. We believe every member of our team deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.
The ACE-School Partnership
We are committed to high-quality education. In December 2023, we launched a "Skip the Presents" fundraising campaign, asking supporters to forgo traditional Christmas gifts to invest in our team's education instead.
Thanks to our generous community, we successfully funded a full semester at the ACE-school (Australian Centre for Education)—widely recognized as Cambodia’s leading English language institution—for six of our staff members.

Annual Educational Staff Trips
We believe that the best way to understand our guests is to become travelers ourselves. Every year, (with a few exceptions) we take our entire team—including all staff and Tuk Tuk drivers—on an educational trip to explore a new province in Cambodia.
These journeys are a cornerstone of our Babel Education Program, serving three vital purposes:
Cultural Deep-Diving: Our team explores the diverse landscapes and traditions of their own country, deepening their pride in Cambodian heritage.
The "Guest Perspective": By stepping into the role of a tourist, our team gains unique, first-hand insight into what it’s like to navigate hotels, tours, and travel logistics. This empathy translates directly into the high level of service we provide here at Babel.
Team Synergy: These trips are designed for teambuilding. By breaking down the traditional workplace hierarchy in a relaxed environment, we build lasting bonds and trust between our team members.
These shared experiences keep our team motivated, connected, and inspired to deliver the warmest possible welcome to every guest who walks through our doors here in Siem Reap.
